The
Huangshan Mountains in southeastern Anhui province where this tea is
grown are among China's best-known scenic spots. They are famous for
their "four uniques" - high, steep, unusual-shaped peaks;
grotesquely shaped ancient pines; clear, trickling springs; and
surging seas of clouds. These cloud seas create a perfect natural
envirinment for growing tea and indeed this is the home of many
famous teas - Tunlu and Taiping Houkui among the greens, and Keemun
Black.
Another Huangshan tea is Dafang, with leaves flat like those of the
more famous Lung Ching, but rougher. After processing they are
yellowish brown in color. The beverage is pale yellow and has a
strong chestnut flavor. This tea comes from Shexian county in the
Huangshan Mountains.
Scented with jasmine or magnolia blossoms, Dafang becomes Huadafang
(Flower Dafang), a famous scented variety.
