Coffee Filter

Coffee Filter

Gravity is the most commonly used brewing method in America. It is predominantly used in drip blew coffee makers that are also known as coffee filter . In the drip brew method, hot water drips onto coffee grounds that are held in a filter. This easy method of brewing coffee produces a cup of coffee that tends to be weaker than espresso. However, it is easy for the user to control the strength of their cup of coffee, as strength is largely determined to the ratio of water used to coffee grinds.

If you have a filter cone, place it on top of a preheated serving pot, and line it with a filter paper of the correct size for the cone. (It may be a good idea to use preheating for measuring the amount of water needed for the brew). Place finely ground coffee in the cone. Pour a small amount of the water; just off the boil, over the coffee just to wet it. Wait a few seconds for the grounds to form a bed, then with a circular motion slowly pour the rest of the water through the grounds as space becomes available in the cone. When all is filtered, discard the grounds and serve.
