Coffee from Cape Verde

Coffee from Cape Verde

Cape Verde
This tiny archipelago, which includes the Windward and the Leeward islands, has been growing good, mostly dry-processed Arabica coffee since 1790. The best coffee, grown at about 900 meters, seems to survive by condensation of fog from the trade winds, as it is neither shaded nor irrigated. The republic imports lower-grade coffee for local consumption, so as to export its own few thousand (at most, and generally decreasing) bags of higher quality, mostly to Portugal.
