Coffee from Martinique

Coffee from Martinique

Martinique
If M de Clieu, created Chevalier del'Ordre de Saint Louis by Louis XIV for his services to France and the world, could see his lovely coffee plantations today, he would weep. Martinique is included in this list only out of respect for its historical importance to coffee-growing throughout the world. In spite of its climate, soil and altitude, Martinique's coffee crop today consists of a few handfuls of cherries, picked from the old untended trees by peasants who bring them into town, hoping to earn a bit of money.
