Coffee from Surinam |
| Surinam | |
| Formerly Dutch Guiana, this was the first country in South America to grow coffee, which was introduced by the Dutch from their Java plantations in 1714. Sadly, Surinam today grows only liberica and Robusta, and very little of that. Considering that the jute bags used here hold 100 kilos, its production appears even tinier in the world production statistics, which are listed by number of bags produced. | |
